In the spring of 2019, textile design students from the Lucerne School of Art and Design put their work on display at an ETH Zurich exhibition entitled “Rendez-Vous!  Insektensammlung trifft Textildesign”. The rich array of insect life in ETH Zurich's Entomological Collection served as inspiration for their designs.

ETH Store managers were fans of the students‘ work and decided to produce two insect-print scarves to sell at the store. This also has the positive side effect of boosting the public's awareness of the natural treasures housed at the university’s Entomological Collection.

Students Florence Schöb and Laura Schwyter won the ETH Store's scarf design competition with their butterfly and caterpillar motifs, which now appear on fine silk satin scarves produced by Weisbrod-Zürrer AG.

The scarves are available for purchase in the ETH store in external pageAccessories.
