Support for additional childcare costs

You are an ETH member, attending a conference, are on a short research stay, have to go on a business trip or are taking part in further training and additional expenses are incurred for the care of your child/children? Then you can apply for the Robert Gnehm Grant. There are a few grants left.

Celebrations of Light

🕯️ As the days grow colder and the light becomes scarcer, communities of faith and culture around the world gather in celebration. This year, we at ETH Diversity would like to highlight a number of holiday and festivals of light that take place during the winter months.

  • Diwali is celebrated for 5 days, starting this year on Oct. 31st. It is the Hindu festival of lights, celebrating the spiritual victory of light over dark, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance.
  • Winter Solstice takes place this year on Dec. 21st, marking the shortest day of the year. Celebrated across various cultures for centuries, it symbolizes light, renewal and new beginnings.
  • Christmas is obseved on Decemebr 24th/25th and celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, who in the Christian faith is the son of God.
  • Hannnukah is celebrated for 8 nights, starting this year on Dec. 25th. It is a Jewish festival of light, comemorating the rededication of the Second Temple of Jerusalem in the 2nd century BC.
