Solidarity with people in the Middle East

ETH Zurich is shocked by the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel in which hundreds of civilians were murdered and kidnapped. We strongly condemn it. Our deepest sympathy goes out to all the victims of the attack and their families, as well as to all the civilians suffering because of the conflict and the consequences of the attack in the region - regardless of their nationality and origin.
Our thoughts are also with all members of our community who are affected by this tragic conflict: If you need or would like psychological support during this difficult time, do not hesitate to contact our counselling offices for students and employees.
ETH Zurich is a place where differing opinions and perspectives may be expressed respectfully and openly. This also applies in the context of the current conflict in the Middle East. However, calls for violence or discrimination of any form are contrary to our institutional values and will not be tolerated within our community or on our campuses.
We encourage the ETH community to maintain a peaceful dialogue in these difficult times, to treat those members of our community affected by the conflict with compassion, and to support each other.
We maintain hope for peace in the Middle East.
