New members on the Ethics Commission
The Ethics Commission met for the first time this week following last month's staffing change. The Commission welcomes three new members to its ranks.
The Executive Board of ETH Zurich elected three new members to the Ethics Commission in mid-March. This brings the total number of members in the Commission to nine.
Newly elected members include:
- Christoph Hölscher, Professor of Cognitive Science at the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences (D-GESS)
- William Taylor, Professor of Movement Biomechanics at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST)
- Peter Wolf, Scientific Coordinator and Deputy Head of the Sensory-Motor Systems Lab at the Department for Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST)
The three new members strengthen the Ethics Commission’s expertise in the areas of navigation systems (with a focus on human-machine interaction), general psychology, biomechanics and medical technology (with a focus on robot-assisted systems).
Re-elected members of the Ethics Commission include:

- Michael Siegrist, Professor of Consumer Behaviour at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST)
Existing members of the Ethics Commission include:
- Lutz Wingert (President of the Ethics Commission), Professor of Practical Philosophy at the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences (D-GESS)
- Marino Menozzi, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST)
The Executive Board and Ethics Commission extend their thanks to the outgoing members, Ines Egli (formerly of D-HEST, now a member of the Staff of the ETH Board), Roberto La Marca (University of Zurich Institute of Psychology) and Kurt Murer (Professor Emeritus at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology) for their service to the Commission.
Members of the Ethics Commission are ordinarily elected for a term of four years.
