Information on the opening hours and services of the ETH Library from 31 August 2020

More restrictions to be lifted before the start of the semester, but masks are mandatory

ETH Zurich is further relaxing restrictions as of 31 August 2020. The following will apply to the ETH Library including its Special Libraries, Collections and Archives:

Face masks mandatory as of 24 August 2020

From this week, face masks must be worn in all ETH buildings. The social distancing and hygiene measures of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) remain in place. Please bear this in mind when visiting the ETH Library.

Locations and opening hours

All locations of the ETH Library are open. Some buildings continue to operate on reduced opening hours throughout September:

From October, the ETH Library in the main building (InfoCenter) will again be open until 22.00 on weekdays, and the Architecture and Civil Engineering Library will be open until 21.00.

Further information

  • Books can be loaned and returned at all locations. Quick queries and consultations are also available. Social distancing and hygiene measures must be adhered to at all times.
  • National and international scientific journals are again available for reference in the open-access area.
  • Photocopiers and scanners are not currently available for use by private visitors.
  • A reduced number of study spaces will be available for students in the buildings on the Zentrum and Hönggerberg campuses.

Collections, archives and exhibitions

Searches in the on-site holdings of the ETH Library’s Collections and Archives, including the Thomas Mann Archives on the Hönggerberg campus, will also be available. The Reading Room Collections and Archives in the ETH main building is open Mon–Fri 10.00–17.00. Prior registration is required to use the Max Frisch Archive and the Thomas Mann Archives.

Museums and exhibitions will reopen in September.

Events

There are many events scheduled for the autumn, but some will be conducted online for safety reasons. Please read the notes and details in the events calendar.

You can also continue to make use of our digital resources and contact options. Please do not visit the library if you belong to an at-risk group or are feeling unwell.
