Visual literature search – Connected Papers

With Connected Papers, the ETH Library is presenting a new search tool for use by researchers at ETH Zurich. It provides a visual, exploratory approach to the search for scientific articles.

Try a different type of search: external pageConnected Papers is a search tool that enables you to discover scientific articles relevant to your own research in a visually appealing form.

Here’s how it works: by taking a scientific article relevant to your field of research as the basis, Connected Papers creates a visual representation of thematically similar articles. The couple of dozen articles with the strongest connection to your original article are displayed as a network within a graph.

You can save interesting articles, download them in bib format and transfer them to your reference management program.

Literature search in Connected Papers therefore provides a valuable addition to your more traditional, subject-based searches. The tool displays links to articles with similar content in a simple way using a clear overview.

Members of ETH Zurich can use the premium licence for Connected Papers to create an unlimited number of graphs. To use the tool, register with your ETH email address.

You can find more information about the tool on our website.
