New events in the “Barrier-free” programme

As part of the Disability Rights Action Days, ETH Zurich is presenting the "Design for all" campaign and organizing various events: learn sign language in the "Café des Signes", change your perspective in the newly designed awareness workshop or explore the ETH buildings with the new accessible navigation app "PolyMaps".

Switzerland ratified the external page UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) back in 2014. Nevertheless, people with disabilities continue to face obstacles on a daily basis, be it when accessing buildings, information or events. To highlight this situation, raise awareness and share information, ETH Zurich is taking part in the external page “Rights of Persons with Disabilities” Action Days. These will take place in Switzerland from May 15 to June 15, 2024.

New events during the action days

As part of the “Rights of Persons with Disabilities” Action Days, ETH is presenting the "Design for all" campaign and organizing various events: learn sign language in the "Café des Signes", change your perspective in the newly designed awareness workshop, explore the ETH buildings with the new accessible navigation app "PolyMaps", or visit the newly equipped and accessible learning workstations of the ETH Library. The exhibition on Barrier-Free at ETH Zurich can also still be visited in the OCT building in Oerlikon. A new website also conveys the content to people with a visual impairment and in English.

These and other events during the “Rights of Persons with Disabilities” Action Days can be found on the "Design for all" website.

Barrier-Free at ETH Zurich

ETH Zurich is committed to accessibility: over the course of the next few years, people with disabilities and those with special needs – whether students, lecturers, researchers, staff or visitors – are to benefit from greatly improved access to ETH buildings and services.

The proposed measures will be implemented in 14 sub-projects under three categories: “Construction, Building Usage and Architecture”, “Organisation and Culture” and “Technology, Communication and Teaching”.

For more information on the programme and the 14 sub-projects, visit the programme website and the new exhibition on the topic of “barrier-free” in the OCT building.
