Workstream 5: Central Administrative Units
Mission of the workstream
- Establishing the services, processes, tasks, skills and responsibilities (TSRs) as well as the interfaces between central and cross-division support functions for the best possible support of the professorships and academic departments
- Pushing ahead with the digitalisation of administrative processes
Topics
Working group “Implementation of professorship planning”
The focus of this working group, led by Thomas Peter, is on the process “Implementation of professorship planning”. This refers to the entire cycle – from planning a professorship to appointment, taking up office and retirement – with particular attention on resources. The aim was to define an optimised standard process with clear tasks, skills and responsibilities. The working group analysed and assessed the process taking into account all entities and stakeholders involved. From this analysis they identified several topics and put forward concrete measures to improve the process. These topics will now be processed further either by the working group itself or by the relevant line organisation.
Working group “Digitalisation of the ETH Zurich Administration”
The mission of this working group, led by Peter Müller, is to draw up a digitalisation strategy for the ETH Administration. The strategy was discussed and developed further in workshops with representatives from all administrative and several academic departments before being approved by the Executive Board in mid-May 2022. At the same time the working group drew up a roadmap for the implementation of this strategy. This roadmap is now being implemented in the Finance & Controlling division and is being overseen by a newly appointed Steering Committee. More information can be found in the interview in Internal News.
Working group “Collaboration in support tasks”
The task of this working group, led by Dieter Wüest, is to set out the principles for collaboration and service delivery at the interface between the central administrative units and the academic departments. These general principles will now be applied to concrete task areas. This will be done in the working group “Big Topics” which cuts across all workstreams.
