Integrating personal competencies

Your personal development also depends on the fostering of personal competencies. For example, if you are self-​motivated, you are more likely to take the initiative and ownership of your studies or work, set goals, and act on a schedule.

In the future, recruiters seek greater adaptability and resilience, open-​minded people who can shift gears, think critically, adapt behaviours to team needs, manage uncertainty, and find the positive even when things are bad.

There is a banner that ETH puts up every summer that says, “Follow your curiosity.” When I saw it, I felt that ETH was the right place. My advice would be not to be shy to reach out to someone if you have an idea, go for it.

Learn how to learn

Looking back, I would be stricter in learning how to learn by taking notes in a systematic way. Instead of writing down the content of the lecture, I would write what I grasp from it, translating it into my words and linking notes with each other.
