Continuing education programmes
A Master’s degree from ETH/EPFL, an equivalent degree from another university or an equivalent academic qualification is required for admission to the following continuing education programmes.
- The Master of Advanced Studies (MAS, MBA) programme comprises at least 60 ECTS credits and can be completed either full-time or part-time in parallel with work. The programme lasts one to two years.
- The Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) programme comprises at least 30 ECTS credits. It takes the form of block courses or weekly course days and lasts one to two years.
- The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) programme comprises at least 10 ECTS credits. It takes the form of block courses or weekly course days and lasts one to two years.
What is the difference between MAS and MBA programmes and Master’s degree programmes (MSc, MA)?
MAS and MBA continuing education programmes are not comparable with Master of Science (MSc) and Master of Arts (MA) Master’s degree programmes.
- MAS and MBA programmes are designed as continuing education to supplement an earlier Master’s degree, and the latter is usually a prerequisite for attending.
- MAS and MBA programmes are shorter (at least 60 ECTS credits) than Master’s degree programmes (at least 90 ECTS credits) and it is easier to attend them in parallel with work.
- An MAS or MBA does not replace the Master’s degree (MSc, MA) and does not qualify the holder for doctoral studies.
