CSCS (Lugano TI)
In Ticino, ETH Zurich operates the national high-performance computing centre Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS).
Its ultra-modern supercomputers, including one in the petaflop performance class, are available to all Swiss universities and research institutions. Thanks to its sophisticated cooling system using water from the lake, the CSCS is now one of the most energy-efficient computing centres in the world.
By public transport
- By train to Lugano (journey time from Zurich main station just under 3 hours, from Zurich aeroport 2 hours 40 minutes and from Milano about 1 hours 30 minutes)
- from Lugano station by bus line 4 (direction «Canobbio») or Bus 6 (direction «Cornaredo») until stop «Stadio».
Departure depending on traffic approx. every 16 minutes.
By airplane
- Airport Zurich – Lugano Agno
Swiss International Airlines flies to Lugano from Zurich.
The airport of Lugano, Agno, is 15 minutes away from the city centre. The easiest way to reach Lugano is by shuttle bus, which runs regularly from 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. (10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on Sundays) between Agno and Lugano city centre. - Airport Malpensa – Lugano main station
Milan Malpensa Airport is about an hour's journey from Lugano. A direct express shuttle bus connects Lugano Central Station with Malpensa Airport with just one stop at the border.
