What are exemptions?

Exemptions in the context of studying and elite sport include defined measures aimed at enabling the compatibility of studies and elite sport. These adjustments are not adjustments to learning objectives. Learning and assessment content remain the same.

Who is entitled to flexibility measures?

Bachelor's and Master's students who are in possession of a Swiss Olympic Card (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Elite or Talent National) are entitled to recognition of elite sport status. These persons have the option of applying for flexibility measures. 

Elite sport status is not granted to:

• International students who do not have a Swiss Olympic Card (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Elite or Talent National).
• Competitive athletes without a Swiss Olympic Card who are, for example, in a professional sporting career as an employed professional with a regular income.

Each application is reviewed individually. The resulting decision is not transferable to other students.

What steps need to be taken into account?

1. Please inform yourself in advance about the programme-specific and subject-specific performance requirements of your chosen degree programme as well as about the types of examinations and other proof of academic achievements (internships, laboratory, etc.) that are part of the curriculum.
2. Before you submit an application for recognition of elite sport status and flexibility measures, an initial consultation with the Counselling and Coaching Centre is required. Please make an appointment.
3. Complete the application form and submit the request in full.

What deadlines apply?

There are binding deadlines when submitting an application for recognition of elite sport status and fexibility measures. These are shortly after the start of the semester. We recommend that you submit your application in advance.
