Known as the "dark ages," the first billion years of the universe are the final frontier of Astrophysics. Professor Kevin Schawinski studies the co-evolution of galaxies and supermassive black holes not only with the support of his own research group at ETH Zurich, but also thousands of volunteer Citizen Scientists. He will present his work at the EuroScience Open Forum in Manchester on July 26th and 27th.

ETH Zurich researchers used solar-powered aircraft to survey the aftermath and environmental impact of a sunken cargo ship carrying 5,000 cattle and more than 700 tons of diesel fuel in the Amazon river port of Barcarena near Belém, Brazil.

On the 16th of October 1855, 160 years ago, a first group of 68 students began their studies at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic, now known as ETH Zurich. Today more than 18,500 students from 110 different countries study at one of the world's leading universities for technology and the natural sciences.

ETH Zurich, revisits New York City bringing a cutting-edge artifact of the future to the East Village: A pavilion made of waste materials. Recasting "trash" as a valuable asset, the ETH Zurich Future Garden and Pavilion redefines the notion of waste by acknowledging its value as a resource. As a producing partner for the New Museum's IDEAS CITY Festival, ETH Zurich will curate a 3-day program of events from May 28 – 30th, 2015 in the First Street Garden.

Sereina Z. Riniker, Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences, ETH Zurich was named this month to the highly reputed, "Forbes 30 Under 30 in Science" in 2015 list for her work in combining technology with science to develop to further computer-aided drug design.
