ETH students are invited to develop ideas and invent prototypes to promote, support and redesign the cultural experience of Rumantsch in an extra-curricular student project. Redesign the cultural experience of Rumantsch and present your ideas in the ETH pavilion at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2018 in Davos

An extra-curricular student project will strengthen and promote the cultural heritage and language of "Rumantsch"; the fourth national language spoken in Eastern Switzerland in the canton of Graubünden.

The participants are asked to develop an idea/ a propotype/ an app/ a model in order to revive, promote and strengthen the Rumantsch language and culture. They will be guided and supported by external pageSpark Labs and the external pageLia Rumantscha, as well as several well-known personalities from the canton Graubünden.

At the end of the project, the teams with the best ideas will get the opportunity to present in the ETH pavilion at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2018 in Davos.

What is your contribution?

  • Invest 9 days;
    5 days during the seminar week at Parc Ela (4-8 September 2017), 2.5 days at ETH Zurich and 1.5 days in Davos in January 2018.
  • Interest in the culture and language of Rumantsch.

Application Deadline is 16 June 2017

Students from bachelor to doctoral level of all disciplines are welcome to apply. Principal language will be English, basic skills in German are necessary.

Interest in the language and culture of Rumantsch.

You must actively participate during 9 days in the course of the project.  

Timeline and dates

1: Kick-off day at ETH Zurich: Saturday, 12 August 2017 (1 full day)

2: Seminar week/ Pop-up studio at Parc Ela: Monday, 4 September - Friday, 8 September 2017 (5 full days)

3: Prototyping Workshop, October 2017 (date to be defined) (1 full day)

4: Test prototype/idea/invention with people from Graubünden, November 2017 (date to be defined) (0.5 day)

5: Presentation at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos 2018, 23-26 January 2018 (1.5 days)

 

Participation is free of costs.

All expenditures related to the project will be covered by ETH Zurich, including travel and accommodation/food expenditures at the seminar week in Parc Ela and the presentation at the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos.

Not included are insurances and special requirements.
