The Leading House ETH Zurich and the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) have together established an instrument for funding the exchange of early career scientists between Japan and Switzerland. Doctoral students (Masters students and early career postdocs in exceptional cases) at Swiss institutions from all scientific fields – including social sciences and humanities – can apply for stays of 3–6 months in Japan. The programme will cover airfare and a living allowance in Japan.

The 2021 call for proposals is now open. For a first-hand insight into the experience of doing a research stay in Japan, please read former fellow Irina Ritsch's blog post.
