RETHINKING LIVING Room
23-25 May 2022 - Enter our RETHINKING LIVING Room of questions – in the spirit of ETH alumnus Albert Einstein: "The important thing is not to stop questioning." Unite in rethinking living.
RETHINKING LIVING in 3 Dimensions
Relax in a comfortable chair, enjoy a conversation or read a book on RETHINKING LIVING, curated by the ETH Zurich Library. Rethink different conceptions of living, re-evaluate life choices, and re-consider the changes you would like to see in the world.
To incite exchange, three pioneering exhibits situate our coexistence in different dimensions: the physical, "White Tower", the cyber-physical, "no1s1" house and the completely virtual, "Digital Einstein".
The White Tower
Will architecture revitalize rural areas?
The White Tower rethinks the existence of a village. It is a future cultural site and pioneering construction from a 3D printer. The entirely digitally printed building offers space for art installations, music and theatre performances to revitalize the area around Mulegns.
no1s1
Who will own collective goods?
No1s1 (no-one's-one) rethinks collective goods and ownership. It is the first house on the blockchain that belongs to no-one, but can be used by anyone. This concept of self-ownership aims to spark a digital ecosystem of people, artificial things and AI linked by blockchain. The prototype is a meditation cabin that shakes up the usual economic and social expectations.
Digital Einstein
How will we interact?
“Digital Einstein” rethinks interactions with virtual characters. Strike up a conversation with Einstein’s 3D-animated twin that answers many questions and will even throw occasional counterquestions or witty remarks at you.

YASAI
How will we feed future generations?
ETH Zurich spinoff, YASAI builds and manages vertical farms based on a circular economy approach that is poised to transform food systems.
