2017 Shingo Research Award for Torbjørn Netland
Torbjørn Netland, Professor for Production and Operations Management (D-MTEC), receives the 2017 Shingo Research Award for the edited book «The Routledge Companion to Lean Management». He shares the prize with co-editor Dr Daryl J. Powell.
Interest in the phenomenon known as «lean» has grown significantly in recent years. The award-winning book is the first to provide an academically rigorous overview of the field of lean management, introducing the reader to the application of lean in diverse areas - from the production floor to sales and marketing, from the automobile industry to academic institutions. 72 leading authors and up-and-coming scholars from 15 countries contribute to the 40 chapters.
Receiving the prestigious award, Netland places his research group on the list of world-leading research centres for productivity improvement and operational excellence. The editors will receive the award at the external pageEuropean Shingo Conferencecall_made occurring 16 to 20 October 2017 in Brussels, Belgium.
Currently Torbjørn Netland is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor for Production and Operations Management at the Department of Management, Technology and Economics (D-MTEC), ETH Zurich.
