Dani Or has been a full Professor for Soil and Terrestrial Environmental Physics at ETH Zurich since August 2008 and has been elected as a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) in 2010. After James Kirchner in 2016, he is the second in the Department of Environmental Systems Science (D-USYS) to be honored with the Langbein Lecture.

The Langbein Lecture is named after Walter B. Langbein (1907-1982), a pioneer in hydrology and geomorphology, and has been awarded by the AGU since 1992. The lectures recognize distinguished scientists with proven leadership in their fields of science.
