Prof. Johann Kolar receives the 2021 EPE Outstanding Achievement Award

Johann W. Kolar, Professor for Power Electronics at the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, received the 2021 European Power Electronics and Drives Association (EPE Association) Outstanding Achievement Award for his contributions in the fields of power electronics converters and control.

Prof. J. Kolar has proposed numerous novel PWM converter topologies, modulation and control concepts. He is known as a main researcher behind the VIENNA Rectifier, the Sparse Matrix Converter and the SWISS Rectifier. He was a keynote lecturer, invited and regular papers author at many EPE and EPE co-​sponsored conferences.
