The newly founded Consulting for Professors unit, which is assigned to the Office of Personnel Development and Leadership, acts on behalf of the Vice President for Personnel Development and Leadership and is in charge of advising and supporting professors related to their employment (including dual career matters during appointment procedures) during their whole life cycle and beyond.

Head of Consulting for Professors

Madeleine Lüthy is the head of the Consulting for Professors unit within the Personnel Development & Leadership division, which is responsible for all non-academic matters of professors during their whole life cycle at ETH and after retirement. This includes dual career and integration subjects, onboarding and implementation of the retirement phase, as well as personal matters concerning their employment.

Tamara Aichner accompanies the professors with regard to concerns during their tenure in leadership issues but also to their personal development and in difficult situations.

Marquita Brillante is in charge of immigration formalities for new ETH professors and their families, contact person for active and emeritus professors and is also responsible for employment confirmations and obituaries of professors.

Franziska Gelzer is the primary contact to the ETH Board (ETH-Rat). She drafts all proposals regarding appointments, reappointments, promotions, and retirements of ETH professors, as well as the nomination of adjunct professors (Titularprofessorinnen und -professoren), for the attention of the Executive Board of ETH Zurich as well as the ETH Board.

Tanja Gsell is responsible for sabbaticals and handles the preparation of the application process regarding outside activities and submits the decision to the Board.

Simone Hess works in the Dual Career Advice and provides support, advice and assistance to candidates and their families during and after the negotiation phase up to the move to Switzerland and beyond with regard to the professional integration of the partner and the personal integration of all accompanying family members.

Erik Jentges

Dr. Erik Jentges advises and supports professors throughout their employment period at ETH namely (but not exclusively) on topics such as outside activities and adjustments of the employment level and supports them during the retirement phase. As deputy head of the team, he also works conceptually on the diverse strategic topics of the unit and develops them further.
