VPN
For the encrypted remote connection to the data network of ETH Zurich the ITS ID-Infrastructure section operates a VPN Gateway. This VPN connection is the basis of the PWLAN.
eduroam
Members of many universities and colleges can use the WIFI (SSID “eduroam”) at ETH.
Through using an encrypted remote connection (VPN), the user revieves an IP address from the official ETH Zurich domain. This allows the user access to certain Services at ETH Zurich.
With PWLAN or “eduroam” users can access the wireless infrastructure of other organisation free of charge.
The service is available to all ETH Zurich employees for free. The first point of contact for all support issues in regards data networks is your IT Services Support Group / ISG (department contacts). For students and other groups without an ISG the Service Desk is the first point of contact.
