The rETHink project aimed, among other things, to promote the culture of discussion at ETH Zurich. But have the efforts been successful? Read the opinions of two ETH employees in the current special edition of the magazine "life". And what is your opinion?

rETHink seems to have quieted down in recent months – but appearances can be deceiving. The project’s six workstreams have been hard at work fleshing out solutions for the future of the university. Smaller projects have already been implemented, and decisions have been made regarding the trajectory of bigger changes, says President Joël Mesot.

What does life at a hybrid university in the year 2040 look like? This is the question that members of the ETH community explored in this year’s Strategic Foresight Hub essay contest. Four entries have now been selected for public voting.

No evidence of dereliction of duty or wilful misconduct; potential for improvement in existing rules. This is the conclusion of the independent report commissioned by the ETH Board concerning the preliminary evaluations of suspected scientific misconduct at ETH Zurich.

Opinions differ on the question of whether the German language needs gender-appropriate formulations. Franziska Schmid and Rudolf Friederich, employees of ETH Zurich, stand up for their position.

In the first series of meetings chaired by the new President, Joël Mesot, ETH Zurich’s Executive Board made provisions for ten new professorships. It also concluded the project to optimise occupancy of the ETH Main Building and created a more permanent structure for the Critical Thinking Initiative.

The new "42" is an anthology from the Critical Thinking team, published in print and online with articles, commentary and suggestions that encourage campus members to question the basis of their work.
