Getting started: designed for new members of ETH Zurich

New at ETH Zurich? Then take a look at our introductory course Getting Started– ETH Library in a nutshell. We explain how to set up your library account, borrow documents and access electronic resources. This introduction is available in English and German. In addition to face-to-face sessions at the Zentrum and Hönggerberg campuses, the course can also be accessed via Zoom.

New course: Citing in scientific papers

Our Citing in scientific papers course covers everything you need to know about citations, paraphrasing and plagiarism. This course, which is provided in English, is intended for students and doctoral students at ETH Zurich.

For students: “Ready for take-off” self-study course on Moodle

Our “How to start your Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis” course ensures that you take the correct approach to your Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis from the outset: the research question, proposal and initial outline are all of crucial importance. This course also includes tips on communicating with your supervisor and the ETH Library.

Resources for doctoral students

In collaboration with the Scientific IT Services, we offer a series of workshops on research data management designed specifically for doctoral students. The first six sessions focus on the research data lifecycle, with a further two sessions dedicated to handing images in research and the topic of citizen science. These English-language workshops can be booked as a series or individually.

The online information fair ETH Library – Your partner for managing the research life cycle also provides doctoral students with useful information about reference management, scientific output and the analysis of its impact and much  more.
