The Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University is the institution's focal point for encouraging and coordinating teaching and research on international affairs, societies, and cultures around the world. The center seeks to make understanding the world outside the borders of the US and the country's in the world an integral part of liberal education and professional training at Yale University. The MacMillan African Studies Papers address the development of Islam as well as the influence of African culture on Europe and Cuba.
