Morph Tales achieves 2nd place at the Digital Awards

At its annual conference 2023, the German Bundesverband Hochschulkommunikation (Federal Association of University Communication) honoured four outstanding digital communication projects with the Digital Award 2023. The winners are Leuphana University Lüneburg, ETH Zurich, Chemnitz University of Technology and Bergische Universität Wuppertal.

The jury ranked the game "Morph Tales – Exploring Artificial Intelligence", developed jointly by the ETH Game Technology Center, the ETH AI Center and University Communications, in second place. The jury praised ETH Zurich for demonstrating with this cross-media game how AI can be used as a supportive and cooperative tool in university communications. They were particularly positive about the innovative approach, the scalable idea, the combination of haptics and virtual play, and the likeable way in which the abstract topic of AI was made understandable with the "cutely designed morphs".

"The jury was impressed by the concept and implementation of the projects. The digital possibilities in university communications have been used in different ways in a modern and target group-oriented way," said Laura Schlotthauer, jury member and managing director of the agency ressourcenmangel an der panke.

The competition is organised by the Bundesverband Hochschulkommunikation and the ZEIT Publishing Group. The aim of the Digital Award is to further professionalise university and science communications in the digital realm, to further establish it as a strong component of communications and to make best practice examples visible.
