Morph Tales – Exploring Artificial Intelligence

Visit the ETH campus and play “Morph Tales – Exploring Artificial Intelligence”. Morph Tales is a fun and clever obstacle course where children and adults alike can discover how artificial intelligence (AI) and people work together.

Morphs

The Morph Tales game revolves around friendly and eager-to-learn assistants called Morphs. Together with the help of players, they complete four tasks in the game. Morphs are young, untrained artificial intelligences (AIs), and their character traits reflect the basic properties and principles of the intelligent adaptive algorithms that computers use to autonomously complete everyday tasks.

Extended reality obstacle course

Morph Tales combines a virtual reality experience with an actual reality experience on campus at ETH Zurich. The game aims to educate kids, families and adults in a fun way about how AI can support humans – or how the two can work together – in completing a wide variety of tasks.

Morph Tales consists of four mini-games that participants play at real game stations using tablets and augmented reality (AR). In each mini-game, it’s your job to help your individually customised Morph pass each of the four challenges. The entire game takes around 20 to 30 minutes and can be played with the tablets provided.

The game begins with a Morph jumping off a screen onto the player’s tablet so that they can complete the four tasks together. Morphs dream of completing the tasks so well that they are accepted into Morphtopia. Morphtopia is the campus for the most talented, reliable and trustworthy Morphs and offers the best jobs in AI!

If you provide your Morph with great support in completing the four challenges, their dream of being admitted to Morphtopia will come true. You will be rewarded too: at the end of game, you’ll see your personalised Morph leave the tablet and get beamed into Morphtopia.
