Acquia Optimize (Monsido)

Acquia Optimize (formerly Monsido) is a service that provides quality assurance for websites. It identifies broken links and spelling errors as well as accessibility issues.

Anyone who regularly works as a content manager in AEM can use Acquia Optimize for their day-to-day work on the ETH website. The tool was originally called Monsido; it is now known as Acquia Optimize. It assists content managers in identifying various issues that might otherwise be discovered only by chance. It displays broken links, detects typos and lists accessibility mistakes.

What websites is Acquia Optimize used for?

Acquia Optimize is available for quality assurance for the ETH website. Over 650 domains are registered, from ishs2024.ethz.ch to zenobi.ethz.ch.

We will gladly add any missing domains. It just needs to be an AEM site that’s part of the official ETH web presence.

What can I do with Acquia Optimize?

The tool scans each of the registered domains at least once per month. Over 100,000 sites are crawled, which takes several days per scan.

It lists broken links, spelling errors, possible spelling errors, image errors and certain accessibility issues for each domain. The tool also gives tips on good SEO practices. Users can also create custom policies to identify specific issues.

Individual sites can also be scanned on request.

How can I get an account?

Do you already have an account? Please try to log in to Acquia Optimize to see if you are already registered. Try with your email address including your organisational unit () and with your ETH username (). Forgot your password? Then use the “forgot password” function on the second page of the login site.

All AEM users can request an account. The easiest way is to send an email to with the user’s first and last name. We’ll set up an account within several days of receiving the request. Acquia Optimize is useful for anyone who does regular work in AEM.

How doesAcquia Optimize work?

The tool is mostly self-explanatory. There’s also a large knowledge database, and you can also sign up for a training course if necessary.

Tips for your first session

  1. After logging in, you will be greeted by a dashboard. A search field then appears in the top right corner: search for your domain and open it on the right.
  2. Then select Quality Assurance from the top menu bar, followed by, for example, Links.
  3. From there you can search for Content with Broken Links, or you can opt to display Broken Links as well.

Browser extensions

Browser extensions are also simple to use and are available for Chrome, Firefox and Edge. Anyone wishing to use this feature can log in with their Acquia Optimize credentials and immediately see how many errors (bug icons) are present on that particular page, displayed on the right edge of the browser.

Many errors can be rectified directly. For instance, potential misspellings sometimes include personal names, company names or ETH project names. They can be added to the Acquia glossary to be recognised in the future. Certain errors can be corrected using the icon with the arrow pointing to the upper right (Open in ... CMS). This takes you directly to the relevant page in AEM, where the correction can be made.
