How do I apply?
Holders of a Bachelor’s degree from EPF Lausanne must apply in the standard way. Find out early about the admission prerequisites for your desired programme and identify the documents you will need for your online application.
Admission to some Master’s degree programmes is guaranteed under certain conditions. For further information on regularised progression to consecutive Master’s degree programmes and an overview of programmes, see the admission prerequisites.
Holders of a Bachelor’s degree from EPF Lausanne are not required to present a level C1 English language certificate. However, if knowledge of German is required for the selected Master’s degree programme you must present a valid language certificate before the application deadline expires.
For successful application we recommend that you consider the following points:
Please inform yourself in advance about the Master’s degree programme which interests you:
- Do you satisfy the profile of requirements and other admission prerequisites?
- Can you produce the required language certificates?
- What application documents do you need for your desired programme?
If you have not yet completed your Bachelor’s degree at the time of application, ensure that you will receive the degree certificate at the latest by the time lectures begin at ETH Zurich.
Please refer to the application dates for our Master’s degree programmes.
We recommend that all candidates apply in the first application window: you receive a decision earlier, and can plan your next steps. At ETH Zurich it is only possible to enter Master’s degree studies in the Autumn Semester.
Collect all of the required documents early on. You will require:
- Transcripts («Relevé des résultats»/«Statement of results») from EPFL and every university attended, including any mobility or exchange programmes and study programmes which were not completed
- Additional documents such as a CV, a portfolio, a letter of motivation, a letter of recommendatio; these depend on the desired degree programme
- If required: a valid language certificate
For further information on the documents required by your desired Master’s degree programme, and the format in which they should be uploaded, see here.
When you have collected all of the required documents, apply for your desired Master’s degree programme online via eApply. Please fill out the online application form completely.
You will be guided through the online application procedure step by step. Please note that your entries must be substantiated by uploads of the required documents (CV, official academic records, etc.). You will receive a confirmation by email as soon as you submit your online application.
You may apply for two different degree programmes per semester.
If your application has been submitted by the deadline and is complete it will be screened by the Admissions Office.
If it satisfies all of the formal criteria, the application is forwarded to the Admissions Committee of your desired degree programme for evaluation. This committee assesses it for content and checks how far your previous education corresponds to the profile of requirements set out in the appendix to the respective programme regulations. Finally, the Admissions Committee formulates a request for acceptance or rejection and sends this to the Admissions Office. Please note that this process may take some weeks.
After your application has been screened by the Admissions Office and assessed by the Admissions Committee, a written admission decision will be available for download on eApply (see calendar dates). Decisions are normally issued within 2-3 months of the submission deadline.
