Students of D-HEST, studying Health Sciences and Technology
- You can find courses under both the external page Faculty of Arts & Science (St. George Campus!) and the external page Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education (KPE).
- Important for your Mobility-Online application at ETH
- If you wish to take courses at the Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education (KPE), you must be nominated for this faculty. In this case, you must enter the Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education (KPE) under "Faculty / field of study at host university" when you apply.
- Note that this means you can only take a maximum of 1 – 2 courses per semester from the Faculty of Arts & Science, but that you have the last priority when it comes to the allocation of Arts & Science courses (after regular students and exchange students who have been nominated directly for the Faculty of Arts & Science).
Students of D-INFK who want to study Computer Science in the Faculty of Arts and Science
- The UofT suggests that you should apply for external page Scarborough-Campus (UTSC) or external page Mississauga-Campus (UTM).
- At the St. George campus in downtown Toronto, there is currently a legitimate risk that you will not be able to enrol in a single Computer Science (CSC) course after the available courses have been allocated to enrolled UofT students.
- It is still possible to apply for Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering or for the School of Graduate Studies if you meet the requirements for these options. Read the information on external page study planning at the UofT and further down on this page.
- Important for your Mobility-Online application at ETH
- You must indicate the external page correct faculty at the UofT under "Faculty / field of study at host university".
- If you fail to provide this information or if you do not meet the conditions for the selected faculty, your application will not be considered.
- In principle, you have 4 options, which depend on your choice of courses 1 – 3 for undergraduate courses, 4 for graduate courses.
- Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering (for Computer Engineering)
- UofT Mississauga (UTM): Arts, Science & Commerce (for the Mississauga Campus in the south of the city)
- UofT Scarborough (UTSC): Arts, Science & Commerce (for the Scarborough Campus in the north of the city)
- School of Graduate Studies
- Use the exact name of the faculty when you apply.
Undergraduate students
- Students who enrol as undergraduate students can only attend undergraduate courses.
- Important for your Mobility-Online application at ETH
- You must indicate the external page correct faculty at the UofT in the field "Faculty / field of study at host university".
- It is your responsibility to select the correct faculty to which you wish to be nominated based on your desired study plan / course selection.
- Copy the exact name of the faculty from the UofT website. If you fail to provide this information in your application or if you do not meet the conditions for the selected faculty, your application will not be considered.
Graduate students
- Students who wish to enrol as graduate students or are required to do so due to the conditions of their department will find all important information under external page ETH > School of Graduate Studies (SGS), the external page SGS Admission & Application Requirements or the external page SGS FAQ.
- You can only attend graduate courses, no undergraduate courses.
- A continuous grade point average of at least 5.0 (mid-B average) is a prerequisite for admission to the graduate exchange programme. Individual external page graduate programmes might set this average higher.
- The Bachelor's degree must have been obtained by the start of the exchange programme and the Bachelor's certificate must be submitted to the UofT on request, at the latest upon arrival. For the Graduate application at the UofT, you are required to submit a confirmation of your department that you will have completed your Bachelor's degree upon arrival at the host university because the Graduate School requires this for your admission. Notify the Student Exchange Office as soon as you have completed your Bachelor’s degree.
- Important for your Mobility-Online application at ETH: Enter School of Graduate Studies under "Faculty / field of study at host university". Enter the faculty exactly as stated. If the information about the faculty / field of study is missing or you do not meet the conditions for the School of Graduate Studies (e.g. language certificate, grade point average, Bachelor's degree by the start of the exchange), your application will not be considered.
Applying to the partner university
After a successful application to ETH Zurich, you will be nominated to the external page faculty / division, incl. university campus that you entered in your Mobility-Online application for ETH under "Faculty / field of study at host university". You cannot change this faculty after the registration deadline at UofT. This is particularly relevant if you change your degree programme (see 4. Select partner university).
Registration at the UofT takes place just a few weeks after your nomination by the Student Exchange Office. For this reason, you must indicate 3-4 courses, including course numbers, for this partner university when applying. Discuss this with your departmental exchange coordinator before you apply online and observe the external page information on the UofT registration procedure and the required documents.
Important: If you are nominated by the Student Exchange Office for an exchange semester and are applying to the School of Graduate Studies, you will have to submit two reference letters for the application at the UofT. One of the two letters should be from an ETH faculty member knowing you personally and it should explain the benefits of an exchange semester for your future studies / your career. Also remember to request a confirmation of completion of your Bachelor’s degree from your department as mentioned above and – if available – a confirmation of admission to an ETH Master's programme.
