IDEA League Student Grant
This grant promotes collaboration between students of IDEA League universities.
The external page IDEA League Student Grant enables Bachelor's and Master's students to undertake research stays between two weeks and six months at an IDEA League partner university. Participation in courses is not the intention here.
The external page IDEA League, founded in 1999, is a strategic alliance between ETH Zurich, RWTH Aachen, TU Delft, Politecnico di Milano and Chalmers University of Technology – five leading universities in the areas of technology and science.
600 Swiss francs per month. If there is a high number of applications, scholarships might be adjusted in order to fund more projects.
After your application has been processed you will receive a scholarship offer, provided enough funds are still available.
You can apply for a top-up for an environmentally friendly travel method.
ETH is committed to sustainability. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions caused by business trips and excursions of ETH members is one of our main goals. We, therefore, encourage all exchange students travelling to European destinations to choose an environmentally friendly means of transport.
From autumn 2023, a top-up of 100 Swiss francs can be applied for to cover the cost of travelling to and from your destination by train, bus and / or ferry if you are going abroad within a European exchange programme. The top-up will be added to the normal scholarship rate with the final payment.
The prerequisite is that the outward travel receipts are uploaded to Mobility-Online at the end of your mobility.

Successful applicants will be informed two to three weeks after submitting the application and will then be nominated to the host university. You will receive further information from the host university about the application there.
Please note that depending on the time of your application with the host university, it might not be possible any more to register you as an exchange student there. The host university will find an alternative status in such cases. This might not necessarily come with a matriculation and the corresponding services connected to a student status though.
After returning to ETH, each student must submit reports on the project and the stay to the Student Exchange Office. The project report is published on the IDEA League website.
