This fee helps to cover the cost of providing administrative / onboarding support and social activities for exchange students during their stay at NTU.
The accuracy of the above information is not guaranteed. Students must ensure that they have sufficient funds to make these mandatory payments upon arrival / registration at NTU.

Flexibility is essential in planning your courses. There is no guarantee that you will be able to attend your desired courses. We strongly recommend that you find out about alternative courses early.
NTU advises exchange students to take courses at their current study level. Depending on your study progress, you will be categorized differently at NTU, with implication for your course choice:
- Upon starting your exchange, you will have completed less than 6 ETH study semesters: Undergraduate (UG) >> only undergraduate courses possible
- Upon starting your exchange, you will have completed 6 or more ETH study semesters and simultaneously be enrolled in either the 1st or the 2nd semester of your Master's degree studies: Direct Masters >> undergraduate and postgraduate courses possible (provided that the pre-requisites for the intended courses are met)
- Upon starting your exchange, you will be enrolled in the 3rd or 4th of your Master's degree studies and have obtained your ETH Bachelor's degree: Postgraduate (PG) >> only postgraduate courses possible. You must submit your Bachelor's degree to the Student Exchange Office of ETH by mid-February (exchange in the autumn semester), respectively by the end of July (exchange in the spring semester).
You commit to informing the Student Exchange Office in writing which category you belong to at the latest after successfully applying for an exchange place.
Note
The definitive PG course offer will not be published until around March for semester 1 and September for semester 2, i.e. well after the application deadline in the Student Exchange Office.
- Direct Master's students should be ready to cover everything with UG courses only if necessary – plan your study plan flexibly and check for credit recognition.
- Postgraduate (PG) students should think carefully about whether they can apply at all and have enough flexibility given the difficulty of planning and accessing PG courses.
A combination of courses and small semester projects (max. 10 ECTS) may be possible, yet the project must be credited at ETH and declared from the very start during the application in Mobility-Online. Also a confirmation of a supervising professor at NTU must be uploaded by the application deadline. Availability of research projects depends on the NTU professors and the school applicants choose; students would need to contact the lectures on their own using the external page research directory. Organising semester projects only after the application deadline is not permitted. Students on research only (three months) will not be offered on-campus accommodation.

external page DUO-Singapore Exchange Fellowship (DUO)
There are very limited awards available and students should not rely on receiving this award for their exchange.
Accommodation
Extremely limited availability and not guaranteed, see external page Hostel Admission Service. Students need to indicate on their exchange application at NUS that that they would like to apply for on-campus accommodation to receive the application instructions along with their admission offer. Even then, accommodation on campus is by no means guaranteed.
NUS strongly recommend that students seek external page off-campus accommodation early (see off-campus accommodation). This may result in increased costs.
Course planning
For course selection at the National University of Singapore (NUS), note:
- external page NUS Information Sheet
- course offer for exchange students according to the external page NG Course List (use current year for provisional study planning if not yet published for the following academic year)
- any external page course restrictions
- You must meet the specified course requirements and, if applicable, be able to prove them. (Note course description! Proof of course equivalent to be provided via ETH transcript or current printout from myStudies when registering at the host university.)
- For D-INFK: Due to a high demand and limited capacity, it may not always be possible to secure a full load of computing courses, so you should consider alternatives. Courses on AI and Machine Learning might be challenging to secure, but other courses such as Algorithms, Computational Biology and Information Theory should be available.
- table overview below
Availability of Honours courses (4XXX – often equivalent to first-year Master's level courses) and graduate courses (5XXX and 6XXX) are generally very limited and restrictions may apply.
