Master's degree studies - autumn 2025
You have registered for a Master's degree programme at ETH Zurich. We, the Registrar's Office, would like to welcome you and assist you with the next steps to get started.

Necessary steps to enrol at ETH Zurich

Where to find your ETH user name, ETH email and initial password
Your Master’s programme registration is complete and you have received your ETH user name and your ETH email address by email (as of mid-July).
Be sure to check your mailbox regularly at mail.ethz.ch. All correspondence (e.g. the semester invoices) will be sent to your ETH email address.
You will find your initial password in your eApply application account. Please log on to eApply and click on 'My User Account'. Your initial password will be displayed there.
If you have forgotten your password for your eApply application account, click on 'Forgot your password'.
How to set your personal ETH passwords & multifactor-authentication
The initial password is only valid for your login to the WebCenter. There you must complete an onboarding process. Follow the instructions on Download www.its.ethz.ch/flyer-students (PDF, 117 KB).
If you have any questions, please contact the ITS Service Desk.
First login to myStudies and address update
The myStudies application will guide you through all administrative matters relating to your studies, as for example the semester enrolment.
To enrol for the first semester, go to www.mystudies.ethz.ch and log in, using your ETH user name and ETH password for web applications, AAI (LDAP).
Before you enrol for the semester, you must verify your addresses. Your correspondence address, your alternative/parents’ address and your residential address will be displayed. Please update them if necessary.
After verifying/updating your addresses, please enrol for the first semester by the end of the second semester week at the latest (Sunday, 28 September 2025). After this date, a late enrolment fee will be charged.
When enrolling for a semester, voluntary contributions must be set to “Yes” or “No”.
Please note that a leave of absence is not possible for first-semester Master students (see the pertaining regulations and exceptions on the website Leave of absence).
IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY ENROLLED AT ANOTHER UNIVERSITY, please note:
ETH Zurich does not permit double matriculations. If you want to start your Master’s studies at ETH you will have to deregister from your current studies by the start of the semester at the latest. If it becomes apparent that you are enrolled double, we will have to de-matriculate you from the Master's programme at ETH.
It is recommendable to register for courses as soon as possible, in case there are restrictions on registration date or number of participants in some courses. The courses are published online in the course catalogue. Please do not register for more course units than needed!
If you do not know exactly what courses to attend, please contact your department’s study administration or wait for the ETH Welcome and Introduction Day.
The deadline for the course (de-)registration is end of fourth semester week (Sunday,
12 October 2025). If you decide not to attend a course for which you are registered, it is essential to deregister from this course in myStudies.
