Previous work experience

Alebe graduated in law from the Unichristus University in Brazil. During his undergraduate studies, he spent a year at the University of Paris X – Nanterre La Défense as part of a student exchange program. He holds an advanced post-graduate degree in international and comparative law from the University of Sao Paulo (USP) and a LL.M in intellectual property and competition law from the Max-Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition (MPI). He has gained professional experience in the private sector, government and academia. Before joining ETH-Transfer, he worked as in-house legal counsel (Syndikusrechtsanwalt) for a leading American technology company in Munich, where he reviewed, drafted and negotiated multi-jurisdictional technology-related agreements on cloud technology, software license, and data protection. At the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI), he worked as policy advisor in a broad range of assignments regarding intellectual property law and policy matters and participated as a member of the Swiss delegation in meetings at the World Trade Organization (WTO), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and other international organizations. At the Center for Global Trade and Investment (CGTI) of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), he provided consulting services and developed legal research in matters related to international trade (WTO Law), investment, and trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights to international organizations, governments, industry associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Alebe joined the technology transfer office of ETH Zurich (ETH Transfer) as Legal Counsel in September 2021.
