The Archives of the Institute for History and Theory of Architecture (gta Archives) collect and archive documents on architecture, planning and landscape design from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Relevance of research and Public

The gta Archives are simultaneously a public research archive and competence centre. They support the university’s inhouse and external research projects, and are involved in research projects themselves. Their holdings are representative of the history of modern architecture in German-speaking Switzerland in international contexts. The NSL Archiv, which collects documents on planning as well as garden and landscape architecture, is affiliated to the gta Archives.

Current activities, projects

  • Inhouse research at institutes and departments, exhibition and book projects, among others on Trix and Robert Haussmann, Jacque Schader and André M. Studer
  • Development of the online database including research portals on Gottfried Semper and the CIAM Archive
