Prestudy Events
The best thing you can do to prepare for your studies is to attend a Prestudy Event. Prestudy Events provide information on your future degree programme and your contact persons, and are a way to network with your fellow students.
The transition from school to university can be a challenge. A lot of studying and a different daily structure are coming your way! To make your start easier, ETH organises Prestudy Events. They help to prepare you for the change and to focus on your studies right at the beginning.
What a prestudy event offers you:
- You meet your future fellow students.
- You receive important information which will help you find your way at ETH Zurich. For example, you will find out who your contact persons are, and get to know some of the rooms where you will be.
- You meet experienced students from your degree programme who can give you helpful tips on studying at ETH.
- A Prestudy Event is a solid, memorable way to prepare for successful studies at ETH!
Registration for Prestudy Events starts at the end of February. The administrative process differs according to how you are entering ETH:
- If you are entering with Swiss qualifications
After your online application for your ETH studies you will receive an email with an invitation to a Prestudy Event which also includes a personalised registration link. Check your inbox (and spam folder) regularly after you have applied.
- If you are entering with other qualifications
After you matriculate for your ETH studies you will receive an email containing an invitation to a Prestudy Event which also includes a personalised registration link. Check your inbox (and spam folder) regularly after you matriculate.
If you are still in the middle of the application or registration process, please save the date of the event you want to attend. All dates are listed here: Dates of Prestudy Events 2025.
Please note:
The invitation to a Prestudy Event is not to be understood as the decision that you are admitted to ETH Zurich. Admission to ETH studies is a separate administrative process. If you have questions please contact the Register’s Office or the Admissions Office.
- Who are Prestudy Events intended for?
Prestudy Events are designed for future ETH Zurich Bachelor's degree students. Therefore you receive the invitation only after you apply or register.
- Are Prestudy Events compulsory?
Prestudy Events are highly recommended by ETH Zurich, but they are not compulsory.
- I have already applied or registered for my studies but have not yet received an invitation to a Prestudy Event. Why?
– Registration for Prestudy Events usually only begins at the end of February.
– The invitation may have landed in your spam folder.
– If you hold non-Swiss qualifications: Only future Bachelor's degree students who have already matriculated at ETH receive an invitation. After your matriculation you will automatically receive an invitation after a few days.
- Does every degree programme offer a Prestudy Event?
Yes. Every degree Bachelor's degree programme offers at least one Prestudy Event.
- My degree programme seems to offer only one Prestudy Event date. Is that an error?
No. The size of the degree programme determines the number of Prestudy Event dates it offers.
- My degree programme offers several Prestudy Event dates. Do I have to attend them all?
No. Degree programmes with many new students run the event several times. They are offered in person at ETH Zurich or online. The content of all events is identical. Just sign up for one event.
- Are there also Prestudy Events at Master’s degree level?
For prospective Master's degree students we hold the Check-in ETH online event with further information on the corresponding Check-in ETH website.
