Learning to Teach

This course imparts a variety of teaching skills which will help Teaching Assistants with their teaching tasks.

Course learning objectives

  • discuss learning science and teaching techniques with peers
  • design the introduction of their course/lecture/exercise class
  • develop learning activities according to learning objectives
  • practice classroom assessment techniques in order to measure student learning
  • engage in peer feedback in order to improve their own teaching
  • experiment with AI tools that might support them in planning their teaching and providing feedback to students
  • reflect on their own teaching network in their environment and deliberately interact with these people.

Is this course for me?

This programme is designed for ETH Zurich Teaching Assistants with current teaching responsibilities (exercises, excursions, supervision of practicals, lectures, etc.) or those who will assume teaching tasks in the semester following the programme. No previous teacher training is required. For funding reasons, persons who have no connection with ETH may not take part in the programme.

Registration

"Learning to Teach" is mostly an online course. Mandatory workshops are organised at the end of the semester. More information and the registration link is available in the ETH course catalogue.
