Master Nuclear Engineering
The Master’s degree programme in Nuclear Engineering is offered jointly by ETH Zurich and EPFL in collaboration with the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI). The first semester takes place at EPFL and the second at ETH Zurich. In the third semester, core courses at PSI are combined with practical experience in industry. The fourth semester is dedicated to the Master’s thesis.
Nuclear engineering, particularly energy generation through nuclear fission, is a technologically advanced field. Energy generation processes are complex and place high demands on technology, safety and safety culture.
The programme focuses on the processes and technologies involved in energy conversion in nuclear power plants. It covers the entire nuclear fuel cycle – from the extraction and processing of nuclear fuel through to its disposal.
Further courses address energy generation through nuclear fusion as well as non-energy applications of radiation in medicine and industry. Students also explore the potential role of nuclear energy in a sustainable energy supply of the future.
