The graphical versions of the ETH Competence Framework can only be used by ETH Zurich members and with integration into the ETH corporate design templates. The graphical versions cannot be displayed without the ETH Zurich logo.
There are three graphical versions that ETH members can use to promote the ETH Competence Framework: the standard version, the domains-version, and the colours-version.
All the materials are available in English and German and in two formats (.png and .svg).
Standard version
![Graphical representation of the ETH Competence Framework called standard graphic version. The framework is shaped like a diamond, where subject-specific competencies are in focus and are supported by three types of transferable competencies. Specifically by method-specific, social and personal competencies. This version includes the name of the four competency domains and, for each domain, displays the related competencies through the means of pictogrammes. There are twenty competencies, hence twenty pictogrammes in total.](/en/the-eth-zurich/education/policy/eth-competencies-teaching/competencies-design/graphic-framework/_jcr_content/par/textimage_443614057/image.imageformat.text50percent.190739112.png)
This default version displays the competency domains (subject-specific, method-specific, social, and personal competencies) and the related competencies. ETH members can use the standard version to provide an overview of the ETH Competence Framework.
Domains-version
![Graphical representation of the ETH Competence Framework called domains-version. The framework is shaped like a diamond, where subject-specific competencies are in focus and are supported by three types of transferable competencies. Specifically by method-specific, social and personal competencies. This version includes the name of the four competency domains but does not provide any further detail on the competencies related to each of the four domains.](/en/the-eth-zurich/education/policy/eth-competencies-teaching/competencies-design/graphic-framework/_jcr_content/par/textimage_1937262021/image.imageformat.text50percent.1463770232.png)
It displays only the competency domains of the ETH Competence Framework. ETH members can use it as a summary of the holist competence framework fostered by the degree programmes or ETH Zurich.
Colours-version
![Graphical representation of the ETH Competence Framework called colours-version. The framework is shaped like a diamond, where subject-specific competencies are in focus and are supported by three types of transferable competencies. Specifically by method-specific, social and personal competencies. The four competency domains are rapresented only by distinct colours. This version does not include any further detail about the name of the competency domains or the competencies related to each domain.](/en/the-eth-zurich/education/policy/eth-competencies-teaching/competencies-design/graphic-framework/_jcr_content/par/textimage_317713446/image.imageformat.text50percent.827794811.png)
It displays only the colours of the competency domains. ETH members can use this version as a reminder of previously introduced content (e.g., textual framework, graphical standard or domains-versions of the framework).
Colours-version (variations)
![Graphical representation of a possible variation of the graphical, colour-version of the ETH Competence Framework. The framework is shaped like a diamond but, in this example, only the section related to the social competencies is coloured, leaving all the remaining competency domains (i.e., subject-specific, method-specific, and personal competencies) in the dark. Variations for all the four competency domains exist.](/en/the-eth-zurich/education/policy/eth-competencies-teaching/competencies-design/graphic-framework/_jcr_content/par/textimage_720083414/image.imageformat.text50percent.1812819515.png)
These variations can be used as animations to discuss specific competency domains. The presentation or discussion of selected competency domains must always follow the introduction of the complete ETH Competence Framework (e.g., textual or graphical standard or domains-versions).
