International students already in Switzerland

1. Students who change residence and move to another canton

Have the following options:

1. keep insured with their European Health Insurance Card (UK GHIC Card);
   
2. keep their Swiss insurance if valid in the new canton too;
3. need to buy a new Swiss insurance for international students;
   e.g. health insurance for international students in the canton of Zurich.

--> in all the above mentioned cases you must apply for a new exemption in the new canton of residence. The exemption is valid only and exclusively in the canton where it was requested.

2. Students who do not transfer their residence, but opt for the weekly residence (Wochenaufenthalter)

Must keep the health insurance plan they have in their "home"-canton.
