Student Coaches
This course supports Student Teaching Assistants in their role as student coaches to develop basic knowledge about coaching methodology and the mindset of a coach. Participants develop coaching skills and methods to effectively guide individual students and especially teams of students (working groups) in their working and learning processes embedded in lectures, courses and exercises. Student TAs learn about team phases, mutual learning, moderation of decision-making with a team, reflecting on critical phases and facilitating conflict situations in a team.
Course content
- understand the basics of coaching and the role as student coaches
- develop the mindset of a coach and reflect on their attitude towards guiding student learning processes (individuals and teams)
- acquire coaching skills and build knowledge and know-how about coaching methods
- analyse learning scenarios and team situations by developing and verifying hypotheses
- give and get feedback from peers and self-reflect on their coaching practice
- design a coaching session and feel confident to use coaching methods
Is this course for me?
The course is open to Student Teaching Assistants from all departments and chairs who are guiding single students and especially teams of students (working groups) in their working and learning processes.
REQUIREMENT: teaching duties in the current semester
