Special students PhD

Doctoral students from Swiss universities who are regularly enrolled in the semester have the opportunity to attend additional ETH courses related to their studies and to take the corresponding performance assessments.

In order to do so they must register at ETH Zurich as special students.

Fill out the Download registration form (PDF, 127 KB) and send it with your current confirmation of matriculation by email to the Registrar's Office.

Important: No registrations will be accepted after this deadline.

Will be emailed to you by the Registrar's Office.

Special students with an active registration will automatically receive a respective email from the Registrar's Office to their ETH email address.

For the autumn semester: approx. mid-July
For the spring semester: approx. mid-December

Detailed information can be found in the Course Catalogue.

A maximum of 5 course units may be taken.

For regularly enrolled doctoral students from Swiss universities, registration and attendance of ETH courses (including examinations) is free of charge.
