ETH at the "Informatiktage 2018"

On 1 and 2 June, it will be that time of year again. In the region of Zurich the computer science festival – the Informatiktage – is being held for the third time.

On Friday and Saturday, companies, start-ups, universities and other hosts based in the Zurich economic area will open their doors and offer an insight into the world of computer science. They will explain the impacts of digitisation and present the fascinating careers and fields of work on offer in the IT sector. Visitors can plunge into the unfamiliar and often surprising application worlds of computer science and meet professionals, researchers and developers who work at the very cutting edge of innovation, routinely grappling with the current and future challenges of a digitised world.

A wide-ranging ETH programme

As in the two previous years, ETH Zurich will once again participate in the Informatiktage. The Department of Computer Science, the IT services, the vocational education and training department and Wyss Zurich with MINT&Pepper will serve up a fascinating and diverse programme ranging from programming for children through lectures and tours to special events for young children, school pupils, students and teaching staff – there is something for everyone. You can see the complete ETH programme on the external pagewebsite of the event.

Disney Research anniversary at ETH

It has already been ten years since the Disney Corporation decided to set up a research laboratory outside the USA for the very first time – and so Disney Research Zurich (external pageDRZ) was born. During this time, the cooperation between Disney Research and ETH Zurich has given rise to a number of interesting projects. Founded in 2008, the lab now plays host to more than 100 scientists, including about 20 ETH doctoral students, who are conducting research into the digital future of media and entertainment. On Friday afternoon, visitors to the Informatiktage will have the chance to gain an insight into the research conducted over the past ten years through an
external pageexhibition.
