Full Professor at the Department of Mathematics
Additional information
Research area
Analytic number theory, probabilistic number theory, automorphic forms, exponential sums over finite fields.
E. Kowalski is full Professor of Mathematics at ETH Zurich since January 2008.
E. Kowalski was born in Grenoble (France) in March 1969. He attended the école Normale Supérieure de Lyon and did his PhD studies at Rutgers University (the State University of New-Jersey) from 1995 to 1998 under Henryk Iwaniec. After two years as Veblen Research Instructor at Princeton University and the Institute for AdvancedStudy, he was recruited as professor by Université de Bordeaux I (France) in October 2000.
E. Kowalski's work is in Number Theory, in particular in Analytic Number Theory taken in the broadest sense, with special interest in the interactions with other fields of arithmetic and mathematics, in particular arithmetic geometry, automorphic forms and probability theory.
