Additional information

Roger Diener has been Full Professor of Architecture at the ETH Zurich since 1st October 1999, with a pensum of 50%.

Roger Diener was born in 1950 in Basle and obtained his first degree in architecture from the ETH Zurich in 1975. In 1980 he became a partner in the firm of Diener and Diener in Basle. He held a position as guest lecturer at the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne in 1985 and from 1987-1989 as Professor of layout and architectural theory. Diener spent 1989-1994 at GSD Harvard, Vienna, Amsterdam and Copenhagen as guest lecturer.

Together with Jacques Herzog, Pierre de Meuron and Marcel Meili, Diener heads "Studio Basle" an external experimental laboratory, developed to test new forms and methods of teaching. The project "Switzerland - a portrait" combines methodical wide-ranging urban development analyses with questions of the conceptional development of large, open spaces.
