With the honorary doctorate, the University recognised Ulrike Lohmann's groundbreaking work on the effect of aerosol particles on clouds and climate and her pioneer research on ice nucleation. In her work, she uses a unique combination of numerical model simulations and measurements, both from the laboratory and the field. She has received several awards and co-authored more than 240 publications.

The new honorary doctorates are conferred at the University’s Ceremony on 28 September 2018.
