Fluorescent, Recyclable and Self-Healing Anticorrosion Coatings

Corrosion is one of the most important causes of safety accidents and environmental hazards, which represent an extremely high economic burden for industry and society. Our set of poly(phenylene methylene)-based anticorrosion coatings are capable to effectively protect metal surfaces from corrosion with thicknesses in the order of tens micrometers. Additionally, self-healing under corrosion attack and fluorescence for corrosion tracking provide a competitive advantage to this new class of polymer. Compared with the state-of-the-art anticorrosion coatings, new PPM-based coatings are completely recyclable and reduces the curing time in the order of minutes.
