Breaking down the barriers of traditional water management using novel hardware and intelligent software to create an interconnected ecosystem
Many water-related disasters (e.g. crop failure, water pollution) are caused by poor water management. This is because current water measurement stations are inflexible, expensive (both leading to poor spatial-resolution), and don’t send data remotely. To address this problem, we at RiverLabs have developed an innovative and novel, highly-complex optical water-quality sensor to measure sediments, temperature, and water-level in freshwater systems (TRL6). Our water-quality sensors are combined with a database and software (for signal processing and analytics). Our sensor is 30x more cost-effective than commercial alternatives and allows our stakeholders (water managers, hydropower operators, renaturalization companies, etc.) to address water pollution (due to natural disasters, bad actors, etc.), reservoir siltation, the destruction of biodiversity, and many more issues.
