Slow electrons for more efficient reactions

Researchers have managed to produce slow electrons in a solution. In the future, such electrons could help make certain chemical reactions more efficient.

Here, two electrons are briefly united as a dielectron (red) surrounded by solvent molecules. The dielectron can’t be localised more precisely. One of the electrons will subsequently leave this area. (Image: Hartweg S et al. Science 2023)
