Team RSL at Cybathlon: when four legs are another pair of hands
Taking place for the first time at Cybathlon 2024 is the Assistance Robot Race, with ETH represented by Team RSL. When paraplegic pilot Sammy Kunz navigates the course, a four-legged robot will be at his side.
In the new discipline, competitors must complete everyday tasks such as brushing their teeth and stacking the dishwasher – activities which people with severe arm impairments often cannot perform on their own. The third edition of the Cybathlon will be held from 25 to 27 October 2024 at the SWISS Arena in Kloten. In this unique championship initiated by ETH, individuals with physical disabilities compete to complete everyday tasks using state-of-the-art technical assistance systems.
