Augmented Reality Glasses: The next personal computer?

AR glasses could replace smartphones in the next 7-10 years as soon as they reach similar utility in a form-factor that is indistinguishable from normal eye-wear. Instead of using conventional panel displays, AR glasses leverage novel projection optics to create the impression that digital objects seamlessly integrate in the physical world. Unlike phones that sit most of the time in our pockets, AR glasses could become the first personal computer that constantly sees the world from our perspective. It puts a focus on human-centric AI that will accompany us throughout the day and give rise to new applications in various fields such as health, creativity, entertainment, etc. Given the importance and influence that smartphones already have today, it will be a key factor to research and develop this technology in a responsible manner with a focus on trustworthy AI systems.

Join us live on-site at the Schiffbau in Zurich for this session where we bring together leading researchers from the newly founded ETH AI Center with key players from industry and start-ups to talk about the challenges and opportunities in enabling the next level of personal computing.
